Founded in 2006 – Prey For Nothing emerged from the ashes of the Progressive Power Metal band Damnnation after they played several shows with Paul Dianno (Iron Maiden’s first singer, but you already knew that, didn’t you). The band, consisting of Iftah Levi (drums), Yaniv Aboudy (guitars) and Amir Salomon (bass) wanted to go into a more aggressive style and recruited Yotam Defiler Avni as their vocalist. After several shows in Israel, the band flew off to Hansen studios in Denmark to record their debut album, Violence Divine, released in 2008 via Rusty Cage Records.
The band kept all the progressive and melodic elements of their former namesake and combined them with a lot of new ideas and styles, creating a mixture of death, thrash and progressive metal music. In 2010, after touring mostly Israel and supporting Paradise Lost and Aborted on several occasions, the band recorded their sophomore album, Against All Good and Evil, released through Massacre Records in 2011.
Some tours followed in 2012 and 2013 as the band opened for Finntroll, Engel and Amorphis while growing a following in Israel and Europe. Even though the musical style sounded to the untrained ear as Melodic Death Metal – to every knowable listener it was so much more. The band kept evolving, taking heed from the titans of the past and breathing fresh air with their unique touch of progressive extreme metal. 2014 saw the release of The Reasoning, the band 3rd album. After several line-up changes the band returned in full force in 2016, headlining several metal festivals in Israel and growing stronger with new guitar and bass players.
The band recruited Michiel Rutten (guitar), Dima Kogan (guitar) and Ben Jonjy Arnon (bass). Nowadays, Prey For Nothing has finished writing their 4th album and are preparing to hit the studio and add another genre defining moment, both for modern metal history and Israeli metal in general.
